Riding in the rain you will notice your brakes won’t function as well and your tyres have less grip so to avoid those hairy moments, a great way of increasing grip is to reduce your tyre pressure. Reducing the PSI by around 10-20 PSI will improve your grip and ability to corner.
Your hoods, drop bars and brakes will become slippery in the rain so wearing gloves will increase your grip and stop your hands from slipping off the hoods and brakes.
Keep Your Hands Where They Should Belong With These Grippers

There are a variety of jackets on the market from the cheaper types that generally just keep you dry but don’t provide any cooling or the more expensive ones that breathe and keep you dry. In heavy rain, it is practically impossible to keep totally dry but if it’s cold they go some way in keeping you warm that bit longer and in lighter rain, you will stay dry with a good or even not so good jacket. As with all things bike the choice is yours the budget is your limiter.
No, we're not asking you to pop to the bank and get some dosh out! This means less leaning the bike into the corners. Slower cornering and less banking will prevent you from sliding and wiping out. So, keep your steed at less of an angle and you will achieve your goal of not getting intimate the tarmac!
If they are wet can be extremely treacherous. You will normally be fine in a straight line but try turning or laying down some watts on these bad boys and you’re almost guaranteed to be hitting the deck.
You don't need thick overshoes unless its cold of course. You can get really thin waterproof shoes for warmer weather that do just as good a job. Keep your feet dry and your ride will be so much more pleasant.

If you see any puddles try to avoid if possible as you have no idea what lurks below. This could be a pothole and narrow trench or debris all of which can take you down so best to avoid where possible.
Drivers visibility is reduced during wet weather so the more visible you are the safer. A good way to stay visible is flashing lights front and rear.

Yes, that’s right the best way to keep safe during wet weather is to cycle when it's dry or take shelter. ]]>Fabio Jakobsen suffered severe enough injuries to require being placed in a medically induced coma but has since come out of the coma on Friday. He now faces a long and difficult recovery period from multiple face fractures and a damaged trachea.
Jakobsen had to endure 5 hours of reconstructive surgery on Thursday after a clash with Groenewegen on Wednesday during the sprint to the line that saw him come to an instant stop whilst the descent sprint at high speed lead to what seems like a perfect storm of errors.
Groenwegen was in front of Jakobsen and moved from left to right during the sprint and appeared to use elbows too and whilst unintentional it ultimately lead to Jakobsen smashing into the barriers amongst others crashing.

Groenwegen apologized for what happened during an interview with Dutch broadcaster NOS.
Groenewegen said, "Let's be clear that it is never my intention to endanger other riders," he said in a trembling voice. "But this was clearly my fault. I deviated from my line and that is not allowed."
Also injured from the aftermath and barriers giving way Marc Sarreau (Groupama-FDJ), Eduard Prades (Movistar), and Damien Touzé (Cofidis), all suffered injuries that ended their Tour of Poland.
Groenewegen himself fractured his collarbone, but in the aftermath, he barely noticed any injuries.
The team issued a statement on Friday, saying, "Team Jumbo-Visma stands for fair sportsmanship, within the rules. With his move, Dylan broke a sports rule and that’s unacceptable. We have decided that Dylan will not start in a race until the judgment of the disciplinary committee to which the UCI has handed over the incident. For now, the health and recovery of Fabio prevail. Our thoughts go out to Fabio Jakobsen and the other people involved in the terrible crash in the Tour of Poland.

After 10 years with Team Ineos (formerly known as Team Sky) Froome, now 35 years old, after achieving so much said: "It has been a phenomenal decade with the Team, we have achieved so much together and I will always treasure the memories.”
Sir Dave Brailsford said: "Chris’s current contract comes to an end in December and we have taken the decision now not to renew it. We are making this announcement earlier than would usually be the case to put an end to recent speculation and allow the Team to focus on the season ahead.
"Chris has been with us from the start. He is a great champion and we have shared many memorable moments over the years but I do believe this is the right decision for the Team and for Chris. Given his achievements in the sport, Chris is understandably keen to have sole team leadership in the next chapter of his career - which is not something we are able to guarantee him at this point. A move away from Team INEOS can give him that certainty. At the same time, it will also give other members of our Team the leadership opportunities they too have earned and are rightly seeking. I am excited about the talent we have right across the Team at the current time and all our collective focus is on preparing for the season ahead. Like everyone across the sport we are all looking forward to the start of racing next month."
So, there you have it. This seems to be a decision to suit all. Chris Froome clearly believes he has more to give whether you agree or not. Dave Brailsford clearly doesn’t, stating sole team leadership is not something the Team can give him.<
We now know Chris Froome will join Israel Start-Up Nation for next season as the sole team leader.<
Chris said ”I look forward to exciting new challenges as I move into the next phase of my career but in the meantime my focus is on winning a fifth Tour de France with Team INEOS."
The Tour de France will start on 29th August, with the Giro d'Italia and Vuelta a Espana overlapping during October, the UCI has announced.
He will be riding for Team Ineos come the start of the Tour de France on August 29th.
It will be interesting to see how he rides during the Tour de France with the Columbian Rider, Egan Bernal the new favourite in Team Ineos overtaking both Froome and Geraint Thomas.
This news will remind a lot of cycling fans what Chris Froome has done for cycling and in particular Team Sky. Bradley Wiggins started the Team Sky train popularity boost by winning the Tour but Froome catapulted Team Sky to heights no one could have foreseen.
We know he will take sole leadership within the team. Will the bike he is riding affect his performance. Disc Brake fans may not like this but Team Sky/Team Ineos does not ride bikes with disc brakes for a reason.
He will be riding a Factor bike with Disc Brakes in his new team.
When it comes to pro-cycling marginal gains really do matter.
Let’s see how he gets on. We can only speculate for now.
